FAQs

Can I find a listing using the listing number?
Yes, click on the “Rental Search” button.  Then on the search page, enter the listing number into the box and press the " Search" button.
 
I added a new listing and I don’t see it on the site.  Where is it?
Since all viewed web pages are cached in your browser you will need to click Refresh/Reload on your browser while viewing the region page you added your listing to. Your listing will appear for everyone else who is visiting the page for the first time, even though you don’t see it.
 
I changed my listing or added/changed photos and I can't see them, what happened?
Please refer to the previous answer regarding adding a new listing.
 
Can you add or modify my listing for me?
Unfortunately, due to time constraints we cannot add or modify your listings for you. Please use "Members" button to sign in and modify your listing. If you require help with changes or photos, please see other questions in this FAQ.
 
What happens if I forget my username or password?
If you forget your username or password, you may obtain it by selecting the "Members" button at the top of our home page then clicking the link below the login space entitled “Click here if your forgot your password.”  After entering your email address your information will then be emailed to the specified email address…assuming you have previously registered with us, and the email address you enter is the same one you registered with.
 
How do I modify or remove my listing?
This is one of the best features of our site. You have full 24 hours access to your listings. You can modify any portion of your listing at any time, including the pictures. You can even choose a new regional area to list in if you feel your area is too specific or too general. Amazing flexibility and you control all of it. To make changes simply click on the "Members" button, enter your username & password then click the “login” button.  To change the text portion of your listing click the "edit" link next to the listing you wish to change. To change the photos on your listing click the "Photos" link next to the listing you wish to change.  If you wish to add or delete your GPS coordinates click the “Map It” link.  Keep in mind if you don’t have the GPS coordinates on your listing, you will not show up on the map. If you wish to change your contact information click on the “Edit” link on the left side of the page, beside your name.  You can change everything down to your credit card.  To change credit card info, click on the “Edit” link beside your credit card info.  You must make any and all modifications to your listings and your contact information.  We do not modify Members information.
PLEASE NOTE: When modifying your listing, changes will be lost unless you save your data by clicking the "Update Listing" button at the bottom of the page.
 
How do I change my email address?
To change your email address, simply log in to your account via the “Members” button. Make the email address change and save it as described above by clicking “Update” at the bottom.  Changing your email address will change it on all of your listings.
 
Is there a referral program?
At this time we do not have a referral program; however you will find our prices are very competitive and offer various discounts for multiple properties.
 
I accidentally disabled my listing, how do I restore it?
If you disabled your listing by deleting it and wish to restore it, you will unfortunately have to re-enter the information & photos.
 
What is featured rental and how do I become one?
Featured Rentals are properties that one of our staff has recently stayed in. G-VR will sometimes approach property owners direct to be our Featured Rental. If you would like to recommend your property as a Featured Rental, and have availability for one of our staff, feel free to contact us.  Featured Rentals last for approximately 2-4 months and generate many inquiries and bookings. Each Featured Rental can be seen by thousands of visitors.
 
Is there a direct URL to my listing or is it necessary to navigate there every time?
Your direct URL would be as follows:  http://www.gay-vacationrentals.com/ListingDetail.aspx?ListingID=
At the end of the above URL, simply enter your listing number after the “equals” symbol.  For example:  http://www.gay-vacationrentals.com/ListingDetail.aspx?ListingID=272
You may email this URL to anyone to go directly to your listing page.
 
Can I put my web page/link on my listing?
Yes you may however you must also link our web site to your.  After you sign in you will notice “Link Page” on the right of the page under each listing.  Click on this link and follow instructions on the Link Page. 
 
I responded to an email inquiry from a renter and it was returned undelivered. Can you help me?
Unfortunately we cannot.  If a message is returned to you undelivered, we cannot provide you with the correct address to contact the person who sent the inquiry. Form based inquiries ask the sender to enter an email address. There is no way to verify the validity of this address before the inquiry is sent. It is up to the sender to ensure that his email address is typed in correctly.
 
Another owner copied parts of my listing or photos, what do I do?
All content on Gay-VacationRentals.com is copyrighted to us as soon as it appears on our site.  Technically even if YOU took your own photos off the site, it would be copyright infringement.  We recommend you ask the owner to remove any copied text or photos in a non-threatening manner. If they refuse, we will co-operate as required by any legal proceeding.
 
How do I contact owners to inquire about or reserve a property?
To inquire for availability, reserve the property, or ask questions, you must contact the owner directly.  Click on any of several “Contact Owner” buttons on the property listing page.  Alternatively, you may call an owner via telephone, if a phone number is shown in their contact info.
 
How can I complain about a property or owner?
Gay-VacationRentals.com has a policy of investigating any complaints about a listing, whether for inappropriate content or misrepresented property.  Gay-VacationRentals.com reserves the exclusive right to determine whether to remove or not remove a listing based on the legitimacy and severity of the complaint.  If you have a complaint about a property on Gay-VacationRentals.com please report it to us via email using our “Contact Support” form on our “About Us” page.
 
What can I do to protect myself from Abuse/Fraud?
Abuse/Fraud is rare in the Vacation Rentals industry. Although the greatest percentage of all transactions between renters and owners run flawlessly, rare problems do sometimes exist. Steps can be taken that will increase the chance that your transaction will run smoothly. Gay-VacationRentals.com recommends that you read the first few paragraphs in our Disclaimer section.
 
How do I report Abuse/Fraud?
If you are the victim of Fraud/Abuse from a listing found on Gay-VacationRentals.com please report it to us via email as well as to local authorities in the area of your rental.
 
Can I copy photos from another website to post on my listing?
Many other sites copyright your photos once you add them to your listing and thus they cannot be legally uploaded to our site without permission.  Also the photos may not be sized properly for our site since some other sites only allow very small photos.  Therefore it is generally best to upload the original photos to Gay-VacationRentals.com.
 
How many photos can I put on my listing?
Listings can have up to 10 photos.
 
What about "SPAM"?
SPAM is an unsolicited commercial e-mail usually advertising a product or service.  There is no way for spammers to obtain your email address from our site.  All inquiries are sent via a form entry which in no way shows your email address.  The only way for your address to be obtained is if you respond to an inquiry.  Spammers do not go to that much trouble to obtain addresses.
 
What is a "Renter Overpayment Scam"?
Scammers will send you an inquiry, which may seem legitimate, but at some point suggest they send you more than your rental fees and ask you wire back the difference. The check they send you will be a fake, but usually takes the bank several weeks to catch it. By then, you have wired the difference back and will be unable to recover what you have sent. In some instances, the bad check will even clear your bank initially. We suggest you insist on exact payment; however, if you do accept an overpayment, wait at least 30 days before returning any funds. If you receive a suspicious inquiry mentioning that a third party (a business, assistant, or someone who owes them money) is going to send an overpayment, we recommend that you delete the inquiry without responding.
